National Cement
The National Cement plant in Lebec is situated on land leased from Tejon Ranch Company, just about
a mile or two from the Centennial site. I am sure it will be one of the main reasons for young families
to buy their homes in that Cool City. Together with TXI in Lockwood Valley the National Cement plant is the main
polluter in our area, and together with TXI they are the main violator of environmental regulations. Since 2004
Centennial Cement is replacing its petroleum coke fuel by tire derived fuel. This reduces
most emissions, but it increases dioxin emissions, which is obviously a serious matter.
